John Lewis hits a new high
This is more than 8% up on the retailer's biggest week in 2007, which until last week had been its all-time record. The figure is also 15% up on the same week last year.
Record weeks were seen across a number of branches and once again online, with johnlewis.com taking the most for a single week.
Andrew Murphy, Director of Operational Development for John Lewis said: "It is very exciting to be breaking records week after week. This would not be possible without all of the hard work our Partners continue to put in to deliver the levels of service our customers rightly expect from us. The atmosphere in our branches is very festive as across the country people are out Christmas shopping, even men, although I am sure there will still be many who leave it until the last minute."
