John Lewis High Wycombe completes £16 million refurbishment
John Lewis has marked the completion of a £16 million refurbishment of its High Wycombe store with the opening of a new fashion department and sportswear offer.
Over an eight month period, the phased refurbishment saw 35,000 square feet of back-office and warehouse space released to increase the shop’s selling area by one third. This included space for a new nursery and childrenswear offer and an extended beauty department. The shop’s existing audio visual department has also been enhanced, and customers can choose from a selection of fitted bathrooms in-store.
In addition, the shop is the first John Lewis store to implement a new zoned fitness department which houses running, tennis, outdoor and children’s sportswear. The department features a gait analysis pod on the shop floor where staff can assess customer running techniques and advise on equipment.
The refurbishment is the retailer’s biggest single investment in redevelopment in 2013 and has created over 200 new jobs.
Lisa Williams, managing director of John Lewis High Wycombe, said: “I am thrilled to be able to reveal the end results of our £16 million refurbishment. The opening of the fashion departments has been a long term aspiration of ours and we hope customers will enjoy the new offer along with the other departments and services that the investment has brought.
“It has been 25 years since John Lewis High Wycombe opened and I’m confident that customers will enjoy the newly refurbished shop for another 25 years to come.”
