John Lewis celebrates record week of sales for November
Sales reached £109.6 million which was an increase of 11% on the same week last year and a 19.6% uplift on the previous week.
Sales in branches were driven by all three areas of the business which include Home, Fashion and Electronics and Home Technology, while online sales grew 34.6% on the same week last year.
The retailer enjoyed a strong 'Black Friday' with johnlewis.com taking a record-breaking £9 million worth of orders during the day at £105 per second. In addition, trade on Saturday saw the retailer take £23.6 million, the largest sterling figure for a day for John Lewis outside of its Clearance sale.
Sales of electricals surged during the week with tablets continuing in popularity. The branches also reported strong sales of radios and cameras as well as a marked increase in sales of coffee making machines.
Candles, table decorations, Christmas trees and lighting also sold well as customers bought products to dress their homes for Christmas.
