Jessops posts 3.3% increase in sales

Photographic retailer Jessops has reported a 3.3% increase in sales for the half year to 17 July saying that trading is ahead of target. Like-for-like sales increased 3.6%

Jessops posts 3.3% increase in sales

Jessops CEO Trevor Moore said that online sales had almost doubled since the second half of last year with more
customers opting to collect their online orders in person for a high street store. He also said the store refurbishment programme was proceeding as planned with refurbished and relocated stores delivering an average sales increase of 30%. Jessops opened three new stores and refurbished or refreshed a further 43 during the period.

Moore commented: “Following last year’s positive EBITDA performance, we set ourselves a challenging plan this year which we are exceeding.”

He continued: “Whilst we anticipate market conditions will remain challenging in the foreseeable future, with our multi-channel proposition supported by innovation, we are well positioned to deliver further profitable market share growth.”
