Jessie J to switch on Oxford Street Christmas lights
Capital FM has announced that singer songwriter Jessie J will switch on the world-famous Christmas lights on Londons Oxford Street on Tuesday 12 November.
The event, hosted by the Selfridges department store, will also feature Conor Maynard and X-Factor winner James Arthur.
During the event, Jessie J will perform some of her biggest hits in front of Oxford Street shoppers. The singer, whose debut album sold over 1.5 million copies worldwide, recently released her follow up album 'Alive' and is just finishing her sold out 19 date UK arena tour.
Inspired by falling snowflakes, the £1.5 million display will feature three quarters of a million LED bulbs lighting up Oxford Street. Starting at 5pm, the switch on event will be hosted by Capital Radio presenters Lisa Snowdon and Dave Berry on a specially built catwalk stage outside of Selfridges.
Jessie J said: “I'm so excited to be turning the Oxford Street Christmas lights on this year. I'm honoured to be a part of such a big event in London's Christmas season! What a way to celebrate the end of my tour!"
Sally Eden of New West End Company, the organiser of the event, added: “The Oxford Street Christmas lights are always a spectacular sight, and this year, with the new design, they will look even more wonderful. The switch on event will be bigger and better than ever as we ring in the festive season with the cream of the UK artist crop.”
