JD Sports takes unit on Queen Street, Cardiff
Scottish Widows Investment Partnership acting on behalf of SW Plc, represented by international real estate advisor Savills, has let 51 Queen Street Cardiff to JD Sports Plc.
The sports fashion retailer has taken a new 15-year lease on the former USC unit, which totals 6,450 sq ft (599 sq m) on each of ground, first and second floor. JD Sports will pay an annual rent of £650,000.
Peter Ratcliff, director at Savills, comments: “We ensured a smooth transition whereby the former occupier, USC stayed for the short term until we were able to secure a new tenant. We had strong interest in the unit, demonstrating the continued demand for prime high street locations in Cardiff. Notwithstanding the recent opening of St Davids 2, Queen Street remains a dynamic retail destination with strong existing retailers including Zara, M&S, Next and Topshop.”
