J. Crew to open London store

US fashion brand J. Crew is to open its first store outside of North America in London’s West End.

The retailer has secured a 17,000 sq ft store on the corner of Regent Street and New Burlington Street. The site is currently under development and will open its doors in late 2013.

The new store will house separate women's and men's stores each with their own designated entrance, as well as Crewcuts, J. Crew's department for  kids.

The new store marks a new phase in the retailer’s international expansion  following the extension of its online business to the UK last year.

"London was an easy decision - it's a place where people understand and respect the integrity of great style and great design. We share this appreciation and are excited to introduce J. Crew to more customers throughout the UK," said Millard Drexler, chairman and chief executive of J. Crew Group, Inc.
