J Crew to open fourth London store at Sloane Square

J Crew is to open a fourth store in London this September on a site opposite the Peter Jones department store at Sloane Square.

The 4,500 sq ft shop on the corner of Sloane Street and King’s Road will stock menswear, womenswear and footwear collections and will also include the brand’s Ludlow suiting shop and a cashmere shop.

In the lead up to the opening, J Crew will partner with Buglife – a charity devoted to the conservation of bees and other bugs – on a living vertical garden which will be built on a barricade outside of the shop. Created by TreeBox and curated by J Crew, the garden will be planted with an array of bright flowers that are known to entice bees including Myosotis, Echinacea and Lavandula.

To celebrate the launch of the partnership, J Crew’s existing UK stores on Brompton Cross and Regent Street will each feature a representation of vertical gardens within their windows.

The retailer will continue to support Buglife’s mission once the Sloane Square store has opened by selling a range of special products in store with a percentage of the proceeds being donated to the charity.

Products will include a t-shirt designed by up-and-coming illustrator Emma Smith and honey made in hives at Regent’s Park and the surrounding areas. In addition, bespoke J Crew seed paper packs will be given to every customer from May to December.
