Hobbs outlines £18 million investment plans

Womenswear brand Hobbs is to invest £18 million in its stores and online offering.

The expansion follows a 10% increase in sales during the last six months and the retailer’s launch in 20 new countries over the last three months.

The retailer’s newest brand, Hobbs Invitation, will formally launch in March and will be available in-store in April. Sister brands Hobbs London and NW3 by Hobbs will also see further development with range expansion and the launch of stand-alone stores.

Iain MacRitchie, Hobbs chairman, explained: "This substantial brand investment is underpinned by all the fantastic customer feedback we have had over the last 18 months."

"For autumn/winter 11, we spent over £6 million investment in store trials and website development to support the inspired fashion collections that our designers have created. This has given us the confidence to invest a further £18 million in the UK and internationally."

He added: "The demand has exceeded our expectations, particularly in the Southern Hemisphere, and shows the fantastic overseas potential for authentic contemporary British designer fashion."
