The new two-storey outlet in Cambridge will feature a café, free Wi-Fi and mobile recharging points as well as a 'community' blackboard for local residents and band members to post messages and flyers. The retailer's new click and collect service, which HMV said is proving popular among customers, will also be available.
A Wi-Fi-enabled technology department will sell premium-branded portable devices and gadgets, presented in an interactive environment staffed by HMV tech experts. The outlet will also sell games and a full range of music including a vinyl section.
An HMV spokesmen said: "As the company continues with the transformation of its retail offer in response to the changing way that people now discover and enjoy entertainment content, HMV is increasingly developing a fully-fledged multi-channel offer across its combined store, online and digital estate."
Mike Barry, manager HMV Cambridge said: "It's great to be re-opening in such a fabulous location and with a store that offers so many exciting new features. The whole team here are really looking forward to welcoming back our regular customers as well as new visitors, who we hope will particularly like the expanded technology department and our HMV café with free Wi-Fi."
