HBC appoints new chief financial officer

HBC, the owner of the Hudson’s Bay and Saks Fifth Avenue department stores, has appointed Edward Record as chief financial officer.

Due to join the business on 28 August, Record will report to HBC chief executive Jerry Storch and will be part of the company’s operating committee.

Storch said: “Ed’s deep retail experience will support our company’s mission to get ahead and stay ahead of the rapidly changing retail environment. He will play a key role as we continue to drive performance and make the right strategic decisions to improve our retail businesses, while also evaluating the best use of our real estate assets.”

With more than 25 years’ experience, Record has overseen financial and operational performance for several large retailers. Prior roles include more than three years as chief financial officer at JC Penney.

Before JCP, Record was executive vice president and chief operating officer of Stage Stores. He has also held executive leadership positions in finance at Kohl’s and began his career in retail at Kaufmann’s, a division of The May Department Store Company.

Record will succeed Paul Beesley who is leaving the business to return home to Canada to be closer to his family.
