Harrods Â£1bn in sales
Christmas tourists help push the retailer through the historic barrier yesterday
Harrods reportedly took £20,000 a minute at the height of the January Sales period.
The result was also good news for Rachel Reid, the sales assistant who took the one billionth pound who will be treated to a luxury holiday.
In a £1.5 billion deal, the Qatari royal family's investment company bought Harrods from Mohammed Al Fayed in May 2010.
