Gloucester Rugby lands at Gloucester Quays as it teams up with Superdry

Gloucester Rugby Club has become the latest brand to take space at Gloucester Quays Outlet as it collaborates with the Superdry fashion brand on a new rugby shirt collection.

England player Charlie Sharples, together with his Gloucester team mates Tom Savage and John Afoa, all attended the official launch of the new Gloucester Rugby Club Megastore at the Gloucester shopping and leisure outlet.

Gloucester Quays centre manager, Richard Rawlings, said: “Gloucester Rugby Club is an essential part of the fabric of this county and we are delighted to welcome the club’s new megastore and Gloucester Rugby supporters to Gloucester Quays.

“The club’s presence will enhance still further the expanding choice of top brands for visitors to enjoy together with the growing dining and leisure quarter experience at Gloucester Quays.”

Other guests at the launch included Superdry founder and chief executive, Julian Dunkerton, who is collaborating with Gloucester Rugby to launch a premium rugby shirt collection for fans and players.

Dunkerton said: “Working with such a strong club is something that’s close to my heart and, given the big year for rugby in the UK, what better way to support a local organisation than collaborating with Gloucester Rugby. Superdry specialises in premium sportswear so it made perfect sense.”

The four jersey collection has been inspired by the iconic styles of the 60s and 70s and features the core Gloucester Rugby colours of cherry red, white and washed black.

Gloucester Rugby chief executive, Stephen Vaughan, said Superdry was a renowned global brand and could therefore offer the rugby club the chance to engage with people beyond the traditional fan base.

He added that opening a megastore at Gloucester Quays presented Gloucester Rugby with a “fantastic opportunity” and was a step change for the club, combined with its new online offering.

He said: “This is a 2,000 square feet modern, state of the art facility in Gloucester Quays. We are really, really pleased to be here. We know…our supporters are going to be wowed.”
