Gazeley secures £20m deal with Tesco
E-commerce site will provide around 550 new job opportunities
Gazeley, a global provider of sustainable logistics, has signed a major deal with the UK’s largest retailer Tesco, to build a new e-commerce distribution centre at G.Park Enfield, north London.
The 152,000 sq ft home deliveries and Express logistics centre is part of the 15.5 acre G.Park Enfield site, which is one of the largest industrial warehouse sites on the M25. Tesco has signed an agreement for lease and the building is already under construction and due for completion in Q1 2011 with Tesco fit out progressing thereafter.
The building will be a merged distribution function for the Dot Com and Express parts of the business, with Tesco investing significantly in the automation and fit out. It will generate around 550 jobs in the local area and serve Tesco customers across north London and the Home Counties.
Nigel Godfrey, Senior Vice President of UK Operations at Gazeley, said, “We have significant experience in delivering bespoke solutions for our customers. Our partnership approach means we are able to deliver this strategic site for Tesco in a short timescale to the highest quality specification.
“E-commerce developments are an increasing requirement for retailers and being able to deliver efficiently and effectively is vital. We are looking to build on this deal to deliver solutions for major companies that have urgent requirements for such facilities. The Tesco deal follows a number of recent wins including the development of G.Park Swindon and a land sale at G.Park Bedford.”
Agents CB Richard Ellis, Jones Lang LaSalle and Lambert Smith Hampton acted for Gazeley and Lambert Smith Hampton also acted for Tesco.
