Front Up Rugby tackles the retail downturn and seeks further investment for expansion
The emerging menswear brand with three stores and turnover rapidly growing towards Â£1m plans futher stores.
The Company plans to add a further five stores, doubling the size of its range and tripling its online sales. By 2015, the company is forecasting turnover in excess of £8m. The business has expanded with some excellent hires to its Board in 2011 and is now in discussion with a number of venture capitalist firms about raising growth capital for business development.
In May 2011, a team of 10 high profile retailers invested seed capital of over £175k for a minority share in the business. Simon Smith, previous CEO of Fly53 & Main Board Director of WDT (Firetrap, Fullcircle, Sonneti) and Keith Watson, non-executive director of Aspinal of London joined the business.
In July 2011 Front Up launched an initial Pop Up store in London’s Covent Garden where the businesses' sales reached record levels and regularly traded in excess of £10,000 a week from a standing start. Identifying the opportunities available for these Pop Up stores, Front Up Rugby opened an additional five new stores in the run up to Christmas delivering six figure turnover in a matter of weeks.
England rugby Player James Haskell joined the Company's Board as an Executive Director in July 2011.
The profile of rugby grows within the UK and globally, With its unique brands and development of new product styles, Front Up is poised to take full advantage of this growing market. Key opportunities in the medium term are the Lions Tour of Australia in 2013; Rugby World Cup hosted in England during 2015 and the Rugby 7s being included as an Olympic Sport at the 2016 games in Rio de Janeiro.
