Morrisons is to close six of its convenience stores. The closures are understood to include stores in Enfield, Waltham Cross, Oxford and London’s Kensington as well as shops is Aberdeen and Kilmarnock.
A spokesman told The Yorkshire Post: “Just like other retailers, we modify our estate based on an evaluation of properties, their remaining lease and whether they remain commercially viable. Our target for convenience store openings is unchanged.”
Tesco senior wine product development manager Laura Jewell is to leave the supermarket to join Wine Australia as its new regional director for the UK and Europe. She will take up her new role in February 2015.
The Sainsbury’s Christmas TV advert will not be investigated by the Advertising Standards Authority despite there being over 700 complaints from members of the public on grounds of taste.
The supermarket partnered with The Royal British Legion to create the advert which features an account of the 1914 First World War Christmas truce.
In a statement the ASA said: "While we recognize that some have found the use of the First World War for advertising purposes to be distasteful, the ad is not likely to break the rules surrounding harm or offense. We also considered that the ad is obviously distinguishable from editorial content and is therefore not likely to mislead."
