Fortnum & Mason to open new standalone London store
Opening in November, the new store will sell a wide range of Fortnum & Mason products and will also offer a tablecloth tea service as well as an "on-the-go offering" aimed at train passengers.
Housed in the former ticket hall of the station, the store will feature iPads where customers can design and order hampers in-store.
The expansion follows record Christmas trading for Fortnum & Mason when sales increased by 17.3% on a year earlier. The store will create 25 new jobs.
Fortnum & Mason has previously opened a shop in London’s Heathrow Airport but this will be the first time in the retailer's 307-year history that a new standalone store will be opened in the UK.
Ewan Venters, chief executive of Fortnum & Mason, said: "St Pancras is London’s Grand Central Station.
"It’s a great opportunity. We feel the centre of gravity in London is moving north and east from Piccadilly.
"35 million people a year go through the station, and nearly a quarter of those people are going there to shop rather than to travel."
Fortnum & Mason also has two stores in Japan.
