Flying Brands announces board changes

Following the disposal of its retail businesses, Flying Brands has announced a number of changes to its board.

The company has confirmed that Stuart Dootson stepped down as finance director on 31 August while Gerald Voisin and John Henwood will resign from the board on 30 September. Dootson has been succeeded by Chris Knott who was formerly group financial controller. He will also take on the role of company secretary.

Chairman Tim Trotter said he will step down at the end of the year once the board has been reconstituted “to meet the on-going needs of the company”.

In the first half of 2012, Flying Brands disposed of its retail businesses which included Flying Flowers, Garden Bird Supplies, Listen2, and Garden Centre Online. It also sold the assets of its Gardening Direct business and announced the closure of its growing and live dispatch business.

Currently Flying Brands’ only income is derived from the rental of Retreat Farm, but the company said there have been preliminary discussions about “bringing other businesses into the company”.

Flying Brands’ losses narrowed from £1.7 million to £1.1 million in the 26 weeks to 29 June 2012.
