First former Co-operative Pharmacies relaunch as Well
The re-launch of the stores in Chester and Chorlton is part of a £200 million five-year investment plan following Bestway’s £620 million acquisition of the high street pharmacy business from The Co-operative Group.
Soap stars from Coronation Street and Hollyoaks were on hand to help open both sites. The Chester pharmacy was unveiled by Hollyoaks star Ashley Taylor Dawson while the Chorlton outlet was launched by Coronation Street actor Alan Halsall.
Well chief executive John Nuttall said: “Following a lot of hard work behind the scenes, we are delighted to unveil the first of our new look pharmacies in Chester and Manchester. It’s a very exciting time for us as we roll-out the new brand name across all 780 Co-operative Pharmacy branches on high-streets across the UK over the new few weeks and months. The rebrand is part of a £200 million investment programme to drive the growth of the business and to support growing demand for primary care services in local communities – enabling Well to facilitate increased access to high quality pharmacy services that deliver improved health and support the NHS.”
The rebranding programme is now being rolled-out across the rest of the UK, with 780 former Co-operative pharmacies set to rebrand as Well.
Both actors received a Well ‘health check-up’ with the branch pharmacist and were joined by VIP “local heroes” who were recognised for their contribution to their local communities.
