FACIT DATA SYSTEMS – World class video analytics solutions

Video analytics has been a buzz word in the retail sector for a long time, we’ve probably all heard the term, but what does it really mean for your business and why should you consider implementing a retail video analytics system in your retail estate?

Video analytics has been a buzz word in the retail sector for a long time, we’ve probably all heard the term, but what does it really mean for your business and why should you consider implementing a retail video analytics system in your retail estate?

The reasons are obvious really; to drive up store and staff efficiency and to improve the overall customer experience, all of which, when correctly implemented will lead to improved turnover and profitability – sounds easy doesn’t it?

This is where Facit comes in and as you will quickly learn, we do it very differently from just about anyone else in the industry. Whilst we use relatively conventional software tools to collect our data; people counting, heat mapping and queue management, that is where the similarity to other systems ends.

Firstly, we leverage your estate’s existing and costly CCTV systems and turn them into an intelligent data gathering network. We do this by connecting our highly sophisticated, yet easily implemented software to the relevant cameras. Furthermore, we are able to work with both IP and analogue cameras.

At your entrances and exits we are normally able to use your existing perspective view (people facing) cameras, so there is no need to install additional, expensive and unsightly detection devices or additional cameras. Here we implement our clever, bi-directional people counting software, which will accurately count people in and out of your store. It can even be programmed to identify the difference between a single person and a group of people entering your premises. This enables actual buying opportunities to be specifically identified, as well as counting the total number of people entering your store – for example, a family group of four probably only represents a single buying opportunity, as only one person is likely to be paying for the purchases. We can also detect unusual and unwanted events, and where necessary, create alerts – perhaps when someone chooses to leave your store by an entrance rather than an exit door, probably with a full trolley!

Our heat mapping technology can be readily incorporated into your CCTV network to operate with your internal cameras, be they conventional, dome or 360 degree cameras. With our real time and time-lapse video technology, we are able to help you build an accurate picture as to how your customers flow through your store; where they go, where they linger longest and indeed, the areas they avoid. This can be particularly helpful when trying to assess the best location to position a particular product and the impact of a local, regional or national sales promotion scheme.

Our intelligent queue management system enables you to quickly and efficiently respond to customer demand at your tills. Whether it’s to open a till to deal with an increase in customer demand, or equally importantly, to close a till as customer demand reduces. Our system has been designed to work equally effectively with both staffed and self-service checkouts. Unlike our competitor’s systems, we monitor both the queue and the checkout belt loading, so that we can more accurately measure customer wait times, ensuring that exactly the correct number of checkouts are open at any given time. We are even able to provide you with a unique trolley monitoring system, so as to ensure that your customers have placed all of their items on the checkout belt for scanning and payment and have not left any items in their trolley.

However, the really clever part is our business Intelligence module. This automatically collects, collates and presents all of the data collected from activity in your store in an immediately useable and actionable format. This enables us to fulfil our customer’s businesses and operational requirements and also, to ensure that all KPI’s are being properly monitored and actioned. We are able to interact with all major data systems and to tailor the display and reporting requirements to meet our customer’s precise requirements. Our straightforward dashboard system presents a clear, up-to-date and easily understood visual display of each store’s performance.
