Ebay to open a Christmas pop-up shop
Online retailer Ebay is to open a pop-up shop in Londons West End in the run-up to Christmas.
The shop will open its doors for just five days from 1 December and will be located in Dean Street, just off Oxford Street.
There will be no tills in the shop and a very limited number of products on display none of which customers can take away with them. Instead the shop will feature display of 200 of Ebay’s best selling items, all with QR codes which customers can scan with their smartphone to make a purchase.
There will also be an area laid out with tablet computers where customers can browse Ebay’s full range of products and buy them online.
The move follows the opening of Google’s first store in the UK which is housed inside a PC World on London’s Tottenham Court Road.
Last month, House of Fraser opened a product-less shop in Aberdeen where customers browse the retailer’s product range on its website and collect their purchases in-store or have them delivered to their homes.
