Dunelm posts increase in sales and profit
Homewares retailer Dunelm has reported a rise in full year sales and profit.
In the 53 weeks to 4 July, total revenue increased by 12.7% to £835.8 million while pre-tax profit climbed by 4.7% to £122.6 million.
Like-for-like sales in Dunelm’s stores grew by 3.4% while home delivery sales rose by 55% and now account for 6.1% of total revenue.
Dunelm opened 12 stores in the year to increase its footprint to 148 superstores.
Dunelm chief executive Will Adderley said: "It has been a busy and very successful year at Dunelm and the business is in better shape than ever with good momentum and clear plans for further growth.
"Customers continue to respond well to our specialist homewares offer and we have made strong progress in all elements of our growth strategy - achieving good like-for-like sales, opening 12 superstores and significantly increasing revenues from our home delivery offer. At the same time, we have made a number of important changes to prepare the business for its next phase of growth.”
Adderley is due to be succeeded by John Browett as chief executive in January when he will revert to his previous position of deputy chairman.
Andy Harrison, Dunlem chairman, added: "We enter a new chapter of growth with a refreshed executive team, led by John, and supported by Will, who are two of the top retailers of their generation. We also have a great team across the business, with continuing passion for giving our customers great products, great value, and great service. Dunelm has an outstanding track record and is in great health. We look forward to reporting on our further progress."
