Dr Martens to open Carnaby Street store
Footwear brand Dr Martens is to open a new store on Londons Carnaby Street. Due to open in November, the store will showcase the brands contemporary footwear as well its latest clothing and accessories range.
Designed over two floors and influenced by the brand’s British manufacturing heritage, the store design will feature elements such as exposed wooden floors, brick walls and leather sofas in Dr Martens classic ‘Oxblood’ tone.
Contemporary wall niches will highlight the brand’s key seasonal styles and will house a special ‘Made in England’ zone to showcase products made in the Dr Martens original Northamptonshire factory.
Dr Martens has recently partnered with charity Strummerville, the Joe Strummer Foundation for New Music, and when open the Carnaby Street store will showcase key pieces from the Strummer School exhibition. This will include personal effects, set lists and previously unseen items from Joe Strummer’s private collection, along with listening posts playing music from his back catalogue, including The 101ers, The Mescaleros and The Clash.
There will be a range of bespoke events to celebrate the store opening which will reflect the brand’s roots in fashion and music and include performances by artists from Strummerville.
