Debenhams calls in KPMG to consider future options

Debenhams has hired advisers from KPMG to look at options for the future of the business, according to reports.

The BBC has reported that the department store chain is considering a range of options including a potential Company Voluntary Arrangement.

Debenhams is currently working through a turnaround plan as it looks to transform the shopping experience for customers and boost sales.

Last month the retailer said it had begun talks with some 200 buyers, merchandisers and other team members across its homewares and fashion divisions regarding potential redundancies. The move was part of previously announced plans to restructure the company around three business units called beauty and beauty services, fashion and home.

The company has also recently launched a new brand identity following a series of store modernisations.
