Costcutter Supermarkets Group has unveiled a new consumer campaign to help its retailers combat the government’s decision to suspend Sunday trading laws during this summer’s Olympics and Paralympics.

Costcutter launches Super Savings Sunday campaign

Costcutter Supermarkets Group has unveiled a new consumer campaign to help its retailers combat the government’s decision to suspend Sunday trading laws during this summer’s Olympics and Paralympics.

The ‘Super Sunday Savings’ campaign will see hundreds of deals launched longside a series of summer promotional offers. The deals are being made available to customers via the 2 million consumer leaflets that are distributed each period for Kwiksave, Costcutter and myCostcutter retailers. The discount vouchers printed in the leaflets can only be redeemed by customers on Sundays during the relaxed trading period.

Angela Barber, trading director for Costcutter Supermarkets Group, said: "The suspension of the Sunday trading laws during the Olympics and Paralympics has the potential to damage sales for convenience store retailers. Costcutter Supermarkets Group is dedicated to helping retailers increase their sales and give exceptional value to customers and this campaign benefits both parties."

Barber added: "The suspension of Sunday trading comes into effect on 22 July but we’re launching our campaign a month in advance to allow retailers to promote their value messages and reinforce customer loyalty ahead of this crucial trading period."
