Co-operative Food launches new Free From and Wholefoods ranges

The Co-operative Food is introducing a range of nine own-brand Free From products, and a new Wholefoods range into its stores this month.

Available in-store from 18 July, the Co-op said it had developed the Free From range to meet the increasing demand from shoppers for gluten and wheat-free products. The range will feature staple products such as fusilli pasta, muffins and ciabatta rolls as well as  two types of chocolate cookie.

Kate Jones, head of own-brand products for The Co-operative Food, commented: “The demand for gluten and wheat-free products has risen recently, as more people choose to avoid them in their diet out of personal preference, as well as for health reasons.  We’re very pleased with our new range, as we feel that each product tastes fantastic.  The full range is suitable for people with coeliac disease, and we’re delighted to offer our shoppers a greater choice of these foods without compromising on quality or flavour.”

The Co-operative said its premium range of Truly Irresistible sausages and burgers has also been reformulated to be free from gluten and wheat.

The Free From range will be available in larger Co-operative Food stores only.

The Wholefoods range of minimally processed products containing  no added sugar or salt, features a number of brands that are  new to The Co-operative’s range, whilst other products have been revamped and rebranded and brought together under the Wholefoods branding.

New products include a chilli pepper salad topper, quinoa and a dried fruit snacking mix, as well as popcorn maize and store cupboard ingredients such as lentilles vertes, adzuki beans and a dried broth and soup mix.

The Wholefoods range consists of over 57 products including a number of healthier alternatives to salty or sugary snacks such as nuts and seeds and dried fruit mixes, as well as beans, pulses and wholegrain pasta and rice.
