£3.5 million mixed-use development in Lytham St Anne's gets the go-ahead.

Lidl UK GmbH and CityPark Projects, advised by Indigo Planning, have been given the go ahead by Fylde Borough Council for a £3.5 million mixed-use development in Lytham St Anne's in Lancashire.

The plans include a 1,617 sq m Lidl foodstore and 1,145 sq m of employment that will be formed within an existing building on the site, which will be retained.

The new Lidl is expected to create around 15-30 jobs and the employment space has the potential to create around 40 jobs.

The development will be served by a total of 127 parking spaces, including 10 mobility impaired and 2 parent and child spaces, together with 9 cycle parking spaces and 3 motorcycle spaces.

The 0.97ha L-shaped site is located on Preston Road in Lytham and was formerly home to library book supplier Holt Jackson which has since relocated to Preston.

Chris Smith, Associate Director at Indigo Planning said,"A small number of initial objections provoked a groundswell of support for the scheme, showing clear demand for a new Lidl store in Lytham St Anne's. While other retailers are yet to bring forward their plans for the area, Lidl and CityPark are committed to bringing back to life this disused site and providing new employment opportunities for people in the town."

The new store is expected to open in July this year.
