Clinton Cards like-for-like sales down 3%
The group announced a number of new initiatives to address the decline. These included the launch of a new website on 16 May where customers will be able to order cards and gifts online and fully personalise them. This will be followed in the next few weeks by a smart phone application for the personalisation. There are also plans to introduce an instore web based kiosk enabling customers to order and print personalised cards instore as well as the launch of a loyalty scheme.
Clintons said the investment in branding and store design initiated last year was now paying off with the launch of four redesigned stores in the last two weeks. It said the early signs were encouraging and that it would report on their progress later in the year.
