Christys' Hats opens second UK store
British hat maker Christys Hats has opened its second standalone store in the UK at Londons Seven Dials. The 505 square foot store in Shorts Gardens is adjacent to fellow UK brand Fred Perry.
Manufacturing hats in England since 1773, the company has been a supplier to the Royal family, the military and police forces, as well as fashion designers such as Margaret Howell, Paul Smith and Ben Sherman. The brand also maintains a celebrity following which includes the likes of Kate Moss, Tom Sturridge, Myleene Klass, Justin Timberlake and Usher.
Steve Clarke, managing director at Christys’ Hats, said: “The vibrancy and character of Seven Dials attracted us instantly. The brand mix in the area reflects great British style, mixing cutting edge and classic design with authentic craftsmanship, in much the same way as Christys’ Hats has for over 242 years. We are excited to be joining these best in class brands and feel that our rich heritage can only add to the unique Seven Dials atmosphere. The store is already trading well and we are very pleased to introduce our brand to new customers.”
Sam Bain-Mollison, head of group retail strategy and letting at Shaftesbury, added: “Recognised around the world, Christys is an excellent addition to our fashion line-up and has great appeal to visitors from the UK and overseas.”
