Cambridge Satchel Company to open first store

The Cambridge Satchel Company will open its first standalone store next month.

The store in London’s Covent Garden will launch in two phases, the first being a pop-up shop which will open on 8 December. The second phase of the store will be completed in time for London Fashion Week, which starts on 15 February, and will feature an exclusive Bloggers Lounge.

Commenting on the opening, founder Julie Deane said: “This has been an incredible year for The Cambridge Satchel Company, our customers want a place to come and visit us and we have found the perfect home in Covent Garden.

“This shop will be unique, not only will we be selling the core range but also special exclusive bags, there will be a host of special events and something for the blogging community who supported us from the start.”

Founded by Deane in 2008, the Cambridge Satchel Company is known for its colourful leather satchels inspired by the traditional satchels of the 1970s, all of which are made in the UK.  The company now employs 62 people and is forecasting a turnover of over £15 million in 2012.
