B&Q CEO Kevin O'Byrne to lead UK business
O’Byrne is taking over from Martyn Phillips who is understood to have left the Kingfisher Group after nineteen years with the business.
As chief executive of B&Q and Koctas, O’Byrne already holds overall responsibility for Kingfisher’s businesses in the UK, Ireland, China, Turkey and its Hornbach investment in Germany.
Commenting on the move, Kingfisher group chief executive Ian Cheshire said: "Our customers and our market place continue to evolve very quickly and so now more than ever B&Q needs to redouble its efforts to ensure continued success. This move allows Kevin to focus fully with the team on the performance of B&Q and driving key initiatives to improve our customer offer, including the acceleration of the omni-channel strategy. To support this I will assume responsibility for our businesses in China and Turkey."
Prior to joining Kingfisher in 2008, O’Byrne worked with Dixon’s Retail as group finance director and is a former European finance director at Quaker Oats.
