Womens fashion retailer Bonmarché has announced that its chairman Tim Mason has stepped down and will be succeeded by former House of Fraser chief executive John Coleman.
Coleman is currently an independent non-executive director of Bonmarché and chairman of the remuneration committee. He is also chairman of McColl's Retail, AGA Rangemaster and Barchester Healthcare and, until October 2014, was senior independent non-executive director of Travis Perkins.
In addition to being a past chief executive of House of Fraser, Coleman has also been chief executive of Texas Homecare and managing director of the Dorothy Perkins, Topman and Topshop brands.
Bonmarché said that Mason is also stepping down as a partner of its majority shareholder Sun European Partners. In addition, Michael Hayes Kalb has joined the Bonmarché board as Sun's appointee as a non-independent, non-executive director.
Beth Butterwick, Bonmarché chief executive, said: "We are delighted that John has assumed the role of chairman. His experience as a non-executive director of the company, coupled with his impressive track record in the retail sector will serve us well. I would also like to welcome Michael to the Bonmarché Board, and look forward to working with him."
As a consequence of the other board changes, Ishbel Macpherson has assumed chairmanship of the remuneration committee, adding to her existing roles as senior independent non-executive director and chairman of the audit committee.
