Bodum opens in-store lab for customers to test products

Bodum, the design-led kitchenware manufacturer, has opened an interactive lab in its Paris store where customers can test kitchen equipment and give feedback on products.

Bodum, the design-led kitchenware manufacturer, has opened an interactive lab in its Paris store where customers can test kitchen equipment and give feedback on products.

The Danish firm claims to be the first manufacturer to provide its customers with the opportunity to try out kitchen equipment in-store.

Customers are able to use products such as knives or electric juicers to cut vegetables or make juices to see which products they like best.  

CEO Jørgen Bodum said: "Handling and using the kitchenware is very different from just looking at it in its box. Just as when you buy a new shirt. You want to be certain that the shirt looks good and that it fits you.”

The move follows a successful launch of the service earlier this year at the Bodum flagship store in Copenhagen. 

After testing the products, customers are also encouraged to give comments and  feedback which is used in future product development.

Jørgen Bodum added: "Our great confidence in the quality of our products means that we are not afraid of direct feedback from our customers. We have already benefited greatly from suggestions from our customers through channels such as Facebook and Amazon. Bodum-lab is a natural next step in our direct dialogue with customers."

The Danish family owned business has more than 300 stores in 55 countries.
