Bluewater welcomes Mint Velvet and Michael Kors

Mint Velvet is to launch its first UK standalone store in a non-high street location at the Land Securities operated Bluewater retail destination in Kent.

Situated on the lower Guildhall opposite Reiss, the 1,900 square foot boutique will hold the brand’s latest womenswear collections, accessories and footwear.

Liz Houghton, co-founder and chief executive of Mint Velvet, said: “Opening a store at Bluewater is a key moment for the Mint Velvet brand, not least because it marks a development of our expansion strategy in the UK. Bluewater shares all of the same attributes as our traditional locations, being a high quality destination with significant appeal to our affluent customer base, but also brings the added benefit of serving a much larger catchment area.”

Joining Mint Velvet on the lower Guildhall will be luxury accessories and fashion brand Michael Kors. The brand will open a 2,800 square foot boutique adjacent to Aspinal and Hackett. In addition, fashion brands LK Bennett and Jigsaw are relocating their Bluewater stores to the lower Guildhall.

All four brands will open their new stores this summer.

Russell Loveland, portfolio director at Land Securities, co-owner and asset manager of Bluewater, said: “Mint Velvet is a very strong addition to Bluewater’s premium line-up, and it is reflective of the centre’s status in the industry that it will be the location of the brand’s first non-High Street store in the country. Michael Kors is equally significant and the two, together with the new stores for LK Bennett and Jigsaw, reaffirm Bluewater’s position as the first choice location in the South East for premium brands.”
