Asos sales boosted by strong international performance
Asos, the online fashion and beauty retailer, has reported a 31% increase in sales in its fourth quarter as the companys international business continues its strong performance.
In the three months to end August, total retail sales grew to £145.2 million, as sales in the UK rose 15% and international sales increased by 42%. Asos said international sales now make up 65% of its total business, up from 60% last year.
Retail sales for the full year to the end of August increased by 38% to £538 million.
Chief executive Nick Robertson said,"Profit for the five months ended August 31 and pro forma full year, are expected to be in line with expectations, and we approach our new financial year with continued confidence."
The company said its retail gross margin was up 70bps on the previous year, while the number of active customers rose by 35% to 5 million by the end of August.
