Asos enjoys bumper Christmas
Asos, the online fashion retailer, enjoyed a bumper Christmas as total retail sales rose 41% to £78.1 million in December.
UK sales rose 34% in the month, while international sales climbed by 47%. Sales in the US were up 53% with EU sales rising by 65%. Sales in the rest of the world increased by 31%.
Asos despatched 2 million orders in December, an increase of 40% on the same month last year. There was also a 40% rise in the number of active customers which reached 5.6 million at 31 December.
Nick Robertson, CEO, commented: "I am pleased to report very strong trading during December with retail sales up 41% to £78 million.
"Our UK performance was particularly strong at +34%, which continues to be driven by better conversion of traffic alongside continued investment in both our proposition and pricing. Our International business grew by a healthy +47%.
"We remain positive in our outlook for 2012/13 as we continue our journey to becoming the number one online fashion destination for twenty-somethings, globally."
