Argos appoints new digital director to its executive team
Bodson will report to Argos managing director John Walden in the newly created position and will be a member of the executive board.
It is understood that he will play a central role in implementing the retailer’s strategy to reposition itself as a digitally-led business.
Bodson was previously executive vice president for global digital at EMI Music where he was responsible for deployment of digital platforms, driving strategy, and creating new digital formats. Prior to EMI, he spent four years with Amazon in the United States and Europe, where he built the online giant's European DVD rental business which is now Lovefilm.
Commenting on the appointment, Walden said: “We are delighted that Bertrand has joined Argos at this exciting time for our business. He will spearhead our efforts to make digital channels – online, mobile and tablet – the primary experiences for our customers, while making the most of our 30,000 colleagues and our national store network.
“Bertrand and his team will be critical to helping re-invent Argos as a digital business.”
