Argos appoints marketing agency to support own brand offer

Multi-channel retailer Argos has appointed marketing network The House Worldwide to develop above-the-line campaigns to support growth in its own brand business.

As part of its transformation plan to reposition itself as a digital retail leader, Argos has committed to growing its own brand portfolio to represent a third of all sales by 2018.

The House-backed shopper agency Path is leading the new work.

Stephen Vowles, Argos marketing director, said: “One of our major strategic aims is to make Argos universally appealing across customer groups. Developing our own brands portfolio is a key part of this.

“We already have some very strong household names at Argos such as Chad Valley. We’re looking forward to working with The House to develop exciting campaigns which engage our customers.”

Philip Slade, strategy director at Path, added: “We’re really chuffed to be leading this project. The unique nature of The House Worldwide has enabled us to put together a bespoke team of experts to answer what is a challenging set of briefs.”
