Argos announces participation in Facebook® Deals
Argos to offer Charity Facebook® Deal today for first 10,000 check ins.
Argos today announced that they will participate in Facebook Deals, which will offer customers special discounts and promotions when they check in using Facebook Places. Facebook Places gives people the power to easily share where they are with friends on Facebook, find friends who are nearby, discover new places, and now, take advantage of special deals by checking in.
Argos, the UK’s most visited online high street retailer, is proud to confirm our promotion is a Facebook Charity Deal, with all proceeds going to Argos’ national charity partner Teenage Cancer Trust. Argos will donate £1 to Teenage Cancer Trust for the first 10,000 customers that use Facebook Deals to check in at an Argos store this week, starting today. Consumers can check in via the most recent version of the Facebook app or their Smartphone at www.facebook.com to claim the Deal.
There are 715 Argos stores in the UK, with 96% of people living within 10 minutes of an Argos store. Argos serves 135 million customers a year and has multiple stores and check in locations in major UK cities. Argos released the 75th edition of its iconic catalogue on Saturday 22 January which will take its place in 17 million UK homes.
While famous for the Argos catalogue, Argos has also established itself as a leading online and mobile retailer. 150 million people visited Argos.co.uk between September and New Years Day, with £1 in £3 coming through Check & Reserve – Argos’ instant online reservation and in-store collection service. 70% of these customers choose to receive mobile SMS reservation updates, resulting in over £350 million of sales. The Argos iPhone app has been downloaded 1.2 million times, generating £3 million sales during Christmas Week last year.
Over the Argos catalogue launch weekend, Argos saw its Facebook fans almost double to over 60,000. Argos can confirm its growing Facebook community is now the largest among general merchandise retailers in the UK.1
