Anthropologie CEO David McCreight to step down

Urban Outfitters Inc has announced that David McCreight, chief executive of Anthropologie Group, will be leaving the business towards the end of the month.

Following his departure, Hillary Super, Anthropologie group president for apparel and accessories, will lead the brand alongside Andrew Carnie, Anthropologie group president for home, garden and international.

No reason was given for McCreight’s stepping down.

Richard Hayne, chief executive of Urban Outfitters Inc, said: “We thank David for his six years of service to the company during which time the Anthropologie group opened 60 stores and grew revenue by over 35%. Both Hillary and Andrew are strong leaders and excellent merchants with a solid understanding of the Anthropologie customer. Anthropologie Group’s current business is particularly robust, and we are excited about both the near and longer-term opportunities for growth under their leadership.”

Urban Outfitters, Inc’s business includes 247 Urban Outfitters and 226 Anthropologie Group stores in the US, Canada and Europe, 132 Free People stores in the US and Canada, and 10 food and beverage restaurants.

Free People and Anthropologie Group wholesale sell their products through approximately 2,100 department and specialty stores worldwide.
