Alliance Boots reveals plans for Nottingham Enterprise Zone
Alliance Boots has announced plans to redevelop disused parts of its headquarters site in Nottingham following the sites designation as the Nottingham Enterprise Zone last year.
The health and beauty products retailer is in discussions regarding the first major project in the Enterprise Zone, working in partnership with the Department for Communities and Local Government Nottingham City Council and D2N2, the Local Enterprise Partnership for Derby, Derbyshire, Nottingham and Nottinghamshire.
The discussions are expected to result in the redevelopment of site infrastructure, including land preparation and remediation activities, to help prepare the site for commercial use. The programme will also include a number of public infrastructure works.
Boots hopes the proposed improvements will further strengthen the site’s position as a centre for innovation and product development in the health, beauty and wellness sphere, and help to attract new businesses to the Nottingham area.
Stefano Pessina, executive chairman, Alliance Boots, said: "The Nottingham Enterprise Zone represents a unique opportunity to create a new innovation platform that will assist in the future development of the UK’s health, beauty and wellness market.
"As Alliance Boots continues to grow its international presence, Nottingham is as always extremely important to us. Our proposed investment in the Enterprise Zone further illustrates our commitment to the region and the UK as a whole."
The works, subject to detailed specifications and necessary planning approvals, will begin in 2013.
