Allan Leighton takes top job at Peacocks
Retail veteran Allan Leighton is to become Chairman of Peacocks, the budget clothing chain. The appointment is a further milestone in the companys development strategy following a review last year.
A former CEO of Asda and Chairman of Royal Mail, Leighton brings a wealth of retail experience to the role.
He is currently Deputy Chairman at Selfridges, Chairman at MusicMagpie and Pandora, and a non-executive director at BkyB.
Peacocks was taken into private ownership in 2006 in a £420 million deal and currently has 500 stores. The move has given rise to sepculation that the company may be preparing for a sale.
Richard Kirk, CEO of Peacocks, said: “Allan’s vast experience will be invaluable as we take Peacocks to take the next stage; building on our continuing success in the UK and developing our successful international franchise."
