JYSK to celebrate major investment in Bulgaria

Politicians, entrepreneurs and representatives from JYSK’s senior management team will be meeting in Bozhuristhe in Bulgaria at the end of this month to mark the start of construction of the retailer’s new distribution centre in the country.

The Danish furniture retailer is investing more than €100 million in the project which will create around 300 permanent jobs when it is fully operational.

Allan Kjærgaard, JYSK executive vice president of logistics, said: “Since the opening of the first store in 1979, JYSK has expanded rapidly and with more than 2,400 stores today, our distribution centres are crucial to our business. We have chosen Bozhuristhe as the location for our new distribution centre, because it matches our strategic plans for further expansion.”

The company has doubled the number of stores in Bulgaria within the last year and is looking to expand further.

Alex Bratu, country manager for JYSK in Bulgaria, added: With a new distribution centre in Bulgaria, we will be able to provide even better customer service, as we can reduce delivery time significantly. Not only towards our customers in Bulgaria, but also in Romania, Greece and all other countries in the Balkan area.”

The new distribution centre is expected to be ready for use in the autumn.
