IKEA expands Task Rabbit service to more locations

Furniture retailer IKEA is expanding its Task Rabbit home assembly service to six new areas.

Launching in Leeds, Sheffield, Nottingham, Gateshead, Southampton and Exeter at the end of January, the service will help customers with various jobs  around the home including furniture assembly, wall mounting and minor home repairs.

Daniel Lundholm, country customer fulfilment manager at IKEA UK & Ireland, said: “We know that increasingly, people are living extremely busy lives, so we want to make things easier for them by offering affordable and convenient services, like TaskRabbit. Expanding Task Rabbit means that more people across the UK can have their furniture built when they want, at high quality and at a low price, giving them more time to spend with their loved ones.”

Task Rabbit was acquired by IKEA’s owner Ingka Group in October 2017. Furniture assembly pricing starts from  £6, although there is a minimum fee of £22. “Taskers” can be booked via IKEA’s website and in-store as well as through the Task Rabbit website.

The news follows the recent announcement that IKEA will be opening a new city-centre concept store in 2021 in London’s Hammersmith.
