Dunelm raises £1.2 million for Macmillan Cancer Support

Homewares retailer Dunelm has raised over £1.2 million for Macmillan Cancer Support following a two-year  partnership with the charity.

In February 2019, Dunelm committed to raising £1 million for Macmillan. In addition to nurses, Macmillan’s professionals range from physiotherapists, psychologists, financial advisors, speech therapists and family support workers, all of whom work with people following a cancer diagnosis.

The funds were raised through a variety of local and national events such as record breaking attempts, fancy-dress days and sponsored walks. In addition, staff members took part in Macmillan’s Mighty Hike.

Dunelm has also been donating 5p from every cup of tea sold through its Pausa coffee shop brand to the charity and has been selling Macmillan fundraising merchandise in 175 of its stores.

Nick Wilkinson, chief executive at Dunelm, said: “We wanted to do something special to celebrate the people who have made this incredible fundraising milestone possible, our colleagues. They have worked tirelessly to raise awareness of our partnership and Macmillan’s new brand campaign ‘Whatever It Takes’ aptly sums up the approach from our team.

“I’m immensely proud of our colleagues and thankful to our customers, family and friends who have donated what they can to help those affected by Cancer. This World Cancer Day we celebrate the £1.2M we’ve raised to date, but most importantly, Macmillan Cancer Support and the incredible work they do.”
