WH Smith to expand presence at Australia’s Perth Airport

WH Smith is to open four new shops at Perth Airport in Australia after the retailer was awarded the sites through a competitive tender process.

The stores at Terminal 1 are expected to launch in May this year.

The retailer has already opened three stores at the airport’s Terminal 4 during the last year and also launched two shops at in Melbourne Airport’s domestic Terminal 3.

The new shops at Terminal 1 will feature WH Smith’s latest store design concept which includes digital screens and feature spaces for key ranges.

In addition, the retailer’s ‘Celebrating Local’ programme, which launched at the existing Perth Airport stores, will be expanded at the new stores and will include activations that highlight local products, book titles, events, organisations and notable Western Australian people.

Carl Hargrave, managing director of WH Smith Australia, said: “I’m absolutely delighted WH Smith has been awarded these four new stores in Perth airport; it is indicative of our ongoing strong partnership with the Perth airport team. Whilst we pride ourselves on being one of the biggest news, books and convenience operators in Australia, we constantly look to evolve our stores and our offer for the ever changing domestic and international passenger demographic.”

The new stores will also include a prominent space for WH Smith’s In Motion digital accessories travel retail brand.
