WH Smith hires international operations director
WH Smith has appointed Gavin McKechnie as international operations director for its WH Smith Travel business.
McKechnie has more than 15 years experience in the travel sector including seven years with World Duty Free. More recently he worked as VP commercial for Abu Dhabi Airport where he lead the network and business plan for the new Midfield terminal. Previous roles have also included working with Delhi Airport and as head of retail at Network Rail.
Reporting to international director Louis de Bourgoing, McKechnie will oversee direct operations for the WH Smith Travel business in Europe and the Middle-East in his new role.
WH Smith Travel managing director Carl Cowling said: “We are delighted to welcome Gavin to WH Smith and with his extensive travel retail experience we are confident that he will drive the business forward and be a valuable member of the senior management team.”
