St Pancras International sees 10% growth in Christmas sales

Like-for-like retail sales rose by 10.1% year-on-year at St Pancras International station in the 10 weeks to 31 December. The increase included strong growth across all categories.

During 2017 the station welcomed a host of new retailers including Calvin Klein, Kikki K, Chanel, Ted Baker and Petit Bateau, while 2018 has begun with a new store for Nespresso as a permanent unit, a relocation of Links of London into a larger unit, and the development of a new concept for WH Smith.

Wendy Spinks, commercial director of HS1 Ltd, the company that owns and operates St Pancras International, said: “Christmas has capped off yet another excellent year for retail at St Pancras, as the station continues to buck the trend of the wider high street. St Pancras proves that bricks and mortar works when it’s convenient, accessible and a destination in itself.

“Today, one in six of our 50 million visitors are not coming here to catch a train, and the station has become an iconic festive location. From our famous Christmas Tree – this year a hand-crafted 47 foot floral sensation created by our very own luxury florist, Moyses Stevens, to working with our diverse range of retailers, investment makes St Pancras a wonderful place to be.”

2018 is the 150th anniversary year for St Pancras International and will be marked through ‘Celebrate St Pancras – the people, the place, the journey’ – a series of events, exhibitions and installations.

Spinks added “2018 is a once-in-a-generation opportunity for the station and we look forward to growing our visitor numbers and engaging them in the rich history of this iconic London destination.”
