Somerfield links-up with Blackpool restaurateur

Supermarket’s ready meals are best in the North West
July 22 2002
Supermarket operator Somerfield is offfering its customers restaurant quality cuisine from TV chef Bill Scott.

Scott will be boxing some of the most popular meals from his restaurant and selling them exclusively through Somerfield.
The GreatScotts range of ready meals will be sold in ten stores near the chef’s North West home town of Blackpool, and 20 Somerfield stores in London.
Scott owns the River House restaurant in Skippool, near Blackpool, and is listed in the Egon Ronay Guide, Michelin Guide and the Good Food Guide.
The fresh ready meals are said to retain their premium restaurant quality when microwaved and served straight away.
Scott is launching seven meals under the GreatScotts brand, including Thai Chicken, Salmon Angelique, and kinless fillet of fresh Atlantic, and Beef Stroganov.
The link-up with Somerfield came through one of the supermarket’s regional Meet The Buyer events. Scott said: “It was definitely a worthwhile effort. Somerfield has been very encouraging about the product and we want to take it as far as we can.”
