Piper invests £11m in Bloom & Wild

Private equity firm Piper has invested £11 million in the Bloom & Wild online flower gifting brand.

Piper said the funding will enable Bloom & Wild to grow its business as it works towards becoming the UK market leader in flower gifting. It will also help it to continue its international expansion in existing and new European markets.

The firm’s investment is being supported by existing angel investors MMC Ventures and Burda Principal Investments.

Founded in 2013 by Aron Gelbard and Ben Stanway, Bloom & Wild has been widely regarded as a pioneer for the concept of ‘letterbox flowers’. The company sends fresh flowers in a slim box that fits through the receiver’s letterbox.

To date, Bloom & Wild has shipped more than 50 million flowers across the UK, France and Germany and has doubled its revenue year-on-year since 2016.

Jax Unsworth of Piper, who will be joining the Bloom & Wild board, said: “The global flower gifting market is ripe for disruption and we believe Bloom & Wild’s proposition ticks all the boxes for both gifters and receivers. Aron has built an outstanding senior management team to propel the business through the next stage of growth and ensure the brand continues to be market leading on all fronts.”
